Madagascar 72% Dark Chocolate Couverture

72% Dark Chocolate Couverture

Cacao beans are the seeds of the Theobroma cacao tree. They can be sourced from several countries, including Madagascar. Raw cacao beans are picked from the pods of the tree. Cacao beans look like coffee beans and can be eaten raw but they taste very bitter.

It is mainly originated in the Sambirano Valley of northwestern Madagascar. This region is renowned for producing Madagascar's finest cacao beans.

This 72% dark chocolate bar is one of our most popular single-origin dark chocolates with intense chocolate and caramel flavors and very low bitterness.

It is a dark chocolate that provides a strong fruity and citrus flavor as soon as it starts to melt. Also, notice the hints of cider and balsamic underneath all the fruity flavors. This fruitiness is typical of cacao from the island of Madagascar, but we think it is especially important in this bar. This bar is sweetened enough to release the full flavor of the cacao and has a long finish and subtle acidity.

  • This chocolate is made with only local ingredients. This chocolate bar uses organic cane sugar as one of the main ingredients. This enhances and highlights the classic citrus and red berry notes present in the cacao.
  • This is an example of what dark chocolate should be. It contains deep and mesmerizing notes of baked brownies, roasted cocoa, and dried fruit. With 72% cacao, the chocolate bar strikes the perfect balance of bitter and sweet for most tastes. It is perfect for seasoned dark chocolate lovers or a first introduction to chocolates containing higher cacao percentages.
  • Like all of our single-origin dark chocolate bars, this bar is made entirely from cocoa beans. This bean-to-bar chocolate is vegan-friendly and made in a dairy, gluten, and nut-free environment.
